Nick Bellico, Manager of Service & Yard

Nick Bellico is our Manager of Service and Yard. Nick hails from Connecticut where he fell in love with sailing at the age of eight. As a mate on the historic Dorade, he sailed trans-Atlantic, throughout the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and Europe.

Nick is a certified ABYC Master Technician - certified in marine systems, diesel engines and electric systems.

Nick takes tremendous pride in caring for and servicing his regular clients. “I love developing a trusting relationship with the owners of these boats,” Nick says, and “It’s important to honor the history of each boat- what this boat did forty years ago matters today. There’s a lot of pedigree in Brooklin Boat Yard boats.”

Eric Pomber is the Assistant Service Manager.

What’s it like to have your boat maintained by us? Rob McAlpine, owner of Restive, shares his experience.

Rob McAlpine’s boat, Restive, is a good example of Brooklin Boat Yard’s world-class service. Rob says, “I don’t have the option of self-maintenance because I live in Texas.” Since Rob can't visit his boat year-round, he entrusts its care and maintenance to the service crew at Brooklin Boat Yard.

Rob stresses, “I’ve never seen service that approaches what BBY does.”

We recently got Restive summer-ready for Rob and his wife’s annual Northeast coastal trip (they spend over a month on their boat every summer). Rob tells a story of having a last-minute maintenance need caught in Southwest Harbor. “Rugge was in a truck and to me in an hour,” says Rob, “We had her fixed and ready, then we had a drink while the sun set.”

“This past season we had a collision at the start of a race in Newport. Took out the stern pulpit, cracked the Taft rail, and had 3 large holes in the teak deck. Quotes for the repair in Newport were 5 to 6 weeks. Would have missed two regattas. We called Brooklin. They started work the day the boat arrived in Maine and finished in two weeks. The repair was so precise that you can’t tell any damage was done.”
