Clover

1989, Bridges Point 24 Sloop, 24’

Clover

Clover is unique from most other Bridges Point 24s in that her hull was built at Bridges Point Boat Yard, then finished along the Gulf Coast using indigenous boat-building woods like cypress for cockpit and deck construction. She has a novel interior layout not available in the standard BP24s.

Clover sails out of Center Harbor here in Brooklin, Maine, and has been featured in videos produced by Off Center Harbor. She is stored with us here at Brooklin Boat Yard for winter 2025-26 and is easily accessible for those wanting to make an inspection.

From our website:

Described by Bill Mayher as the perfect boat for Eggemoggin Reach, the 24’ Bridges Point Sloop is speedy, seakindly and seaworthy enough to point its nose into Jericho Bay and beyond. Bill says, “This boat displayed Joel’s incredible love of being in a boat.” Both Bill and Joel owned one of these boats, and according to Bill, Joel sailed his Ellisha more than any other. Designed for Wade Dow who built around eighty of them- some with pointed cabins and some with larger cruising cabins with flat fronts- their fiberglass hulls are still in production by Bridges Point Boat Company on Mount Desert Island.

Asking Price: $27,000

Location: Brooklin, Maine

Interior Layout and Accommodation
Simple interior layout well-suited to day sailing with the option for the occasional overnight or weekend cruise.
Hull interior is finished of with varnished mahogany sheathing with interior joinery being raised panel varnished mahogany with bronze hardware and fiddles.
Furthest forward is chain locker / anchor rode storage area ahead of partial bulkhead.
This is followed by sleeping accommodations for two (2) persons in a V-berth configuration with storage bins located below the berthing space.
Next aft is an athwartships settee (affectionately called “the couch”) that provides a comfortable space for two (2) persons sitting side by side (facing aft) either for end of day libations or quiet reading with light provided by swiveling reading lamps located outboard to both port and starboard that also serve the V-berths forward
Outboard of “the couch” to both port and starboard are storage cabinets to port and starboard with dishware storage racks to port and cutlery / utensil and miscellaneous storage drawers to starboard.
Continuing to the aft bulkhead port and starboard out are raised panel vanities with bronze countertop fiddles. There is a bronze sink basin and bronze manually supplied water pump located on the starboard vanity countertop and under counter storage to port.
Furthest aft and outboard both to port and starboard are opening cabinet style doors giving access to the sail locker areas from within the interior space.
Just outboard of the of the companionway and to starboard is a Force 10 diesel fueled cabin heater and just outboard to port of the companionway is an attractive stained glass door (portrait of Clover) which when opened gives access to the spaces aft and under the cockpit bridge deck.
On center line (aft) is a single step leading out of the companionway to the cockpit and allowing for access to the (under step) fuel tank and (behind step) to the engine space aft and under the cockpit bridge deck.
