2006 Launchings
RESTIVE

Built for George Denny (who also owns the BBY Center Harbor 31, PUDDING) this Niels Helleberg designed 48' sloop was launched this past spring just in the nick of time for her to compete in the Centennial Newport to Bermuda Race.
Thinking that the 635 mile dash to the Onion Patch might not be enough of a sea-trial, after a few days rest and relaxation in Bermuda, George opted to take the long way home to Maine by way of an offshore passage to the eastern end of Nova Scotia and a cruise along Nova Scotia's south coast and Bay of Fundy.
RESTIVE will spend the winter of 2006-2007 here at Brooklin Boat Yard. Next years plans call for entry in the Marion to Bermuda Race which George has won previously.
GERANIUM
On a foggy, damp day in July, GERANIUM a custom Bob Stephens designed day-sailor was launched for Nick and Kate Vanoff. Kate is quite an accomplished tennis player and put her skills to good work as she christened GERANIUM. Not only did the champagne bottle break on the first try, pieces of the bottle could be found all the way at the far end of the travel-lift slip. Way to go Kate!!! Nick uses GERANIUM mostly for casual day-sailing around Mt. Desert Island but decided to come over to Brooklin for the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and ended up placing 6th in the very competitive Spirit of Tradition Class. We hope to see Geranium and her crew on a few more race courses next summer.
PANDL

The owners of HOI AN (Bob Stephens / BBY 50) Marc and Pam Heilner wanted a power boat that could do many things well. It had to be fast and seaworthy, it had to have more room than their Boston Whaler but it couldn't so big that it would be difficult to handle and not be able to travel in “skinny” water. It would have to be able to carry (not tow) a dinghy that could be easily launched and brought back aboard. Of course it would have to be a pretty boat but at the same time it would have to be somewhat utilitarian in that it might be pressed into service as a launch and support boat for HOI AN during her summer racing program. To meet all these criteria Bob Stephens designed for them this 26' LOA center-console, open-transom, jet-powered runabout which was launched this past summer.
2006 Racing Results

WINTER WORK 2006-2007
On the new construction front Brooklin Boat Yard is well into the building of two boats and a third boat will be started just as soon as Brooklin Design Associates can provide the crew with working drawings. The photo below shows the two boats presently under construction.

To the left is a Bob Stephens designed 59' ketch which her owner plans to use for extensive cruising expeditions and offshore passage-making. At the time of this writing (late Sept 2006) the hull has been completely planked and is now being faired prior to application of the final glass cloth skin.
The boat to the right will be named ANNA and she is a Sparkman & Stephens designed racing / cruising sloop that will appear very reminiscent (from the waterline up) of the classic S&S design STORMY WEATHER but will (Below the waterline) sport modern shapes and thought with regard to her keel and rudder.
