“Goshawk” the Bob Stephens designed Brooklin Boat Yard 76' Fast Sloop had a very busy first season. Along with being a show stopper at both the Maine Boats and Harbors Boat Show in Rockland, ME and the Wooden Boat Show in Newport RI she competed in several New England racing events. The following is “Goshawk's” debut season official race record.

  • Marblehead to Halifax Race: 1st to Finish, IRC Class 2
  • Castine Classic Yacht Race: 1st to Finish, Spirit of Tradition Class
  • Camden Classic Yacht Race: 2nd to Finish, Spirit of Tradition Class
  • Eggemoggin Reach Regatta: 1st to Finish, Spirit of Tradition Class
  • MOY Classic Yacht Regatta, Day 1: 1st to Finish, Modern Class
  • MOY Classic Yacht Regatta, Day 2: 1st to Finish, Modern Class
  • Shipyard Cup, Day 1: 2nd to Finish
  • Shipyard Cup, Day 2: 10th to Finish

“Goshawk” was also an unofficial participant in the Opera House Cup as her Cuben Cloth sail material did not allow for her to compete within the Opera House Cup Fleet. However the Race Committee graciously allowed her to sail the race course after the last (12-meter) class to start. “Goshawk” started 5 minutes after the 12's and sailed the course being very careful to stay away from the competing boats. Even with this ‘gentlemanly” style of yacht racing (wide mark roundings, passing to leeward and always giving right of way to other boats no matter what the tack) “Goshawk” managed to pass all but two of the 12-meter fleet and a sizable portion of the other fleets.

“Aphrodite” Launching

The relaunching of Aphrodite after restoration by Brooklin Boat Yard

At 10:00 AM on October 3rd, 2005 work pretty much came to a stand still and the rest of the day was given over to a celebration of the relaunching of “Aphrodite” after completion of her total restoration by Brooklin Boat Yard.

“Aphrodite” is now back out of the water after having successfully under gone sea-trials, she will remain at Brooklin Boat Yard this winter to finish up final detailing.
