New Brokerage Sales Office At Brooklin Boatyard

BBY photoBrooklin Boatyard (BBY) of Brooklin, ME is pleased to announce the addition of a Brokerage Sales Office to their existing new boat sales operation.

“Brokerage Sales is a terrific service that we can now provide for both our existing clientele and our future new boat customers”, says Steve White, President of Brooklin Boatyard. “Most of our new boat customers are experienced sailors who own very high quality boats which they may want to sell before taking delivery of their new (BBY built) boats and we also are seeing quite a few people for whom we have built boats in the past moving up to bigger boats who will also be looking for someone to sell their existing boat. By establishing a Brokerage Sales Office we will now be able to meet the sales needs of these clients.”

John Maxwell has joined the staff of Brooklin Boatyard to oversee all operations of the Brokerage Sales Office and act as Principle Broker. A life-long sailor and boater, John has a long history of employment in all aspects of the yachting industry. Most recently he was employed as a yacht broker for Morris Yachts.

“Providing a way for our new boat customers to sell their present boat is a natural way for Brooklin Boatyard to go, and certainly with our (BBY) reputation we can foresee the new Brokerage Sales Office becoming a magnet for people wishing to either sell or purchase classic wooden boats” says Mr. Maxwell, who goes on to say. “However we do not want to be pigeon-holed as an office dealing solely with wooden boats. This will be a general brokerage office and as such we will be looking to represent quality, previously owned boats of any construction type both in power and sail. Additionally we will be looking to provide buyer’s-broker services (search, location, inspection, evaluation and purchase negotiation) for those people interested in a particular type or class of boat not listed with our office.

As a part of the expansion of Brooklin Boatyard’s sales operations BBY has become a member of the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA). Additionally to increase it’s exposure in the used boat marketplace BBY will be establishing a new website (www.brooklinboatyard.com) with a dedicated “boats for sale” section and will also be featuring their listings in Yachtworld.com.

Brooklin Boatyard is a full service yard specializing in the design and construction of cold-molded wooden boats such as the W-76 “Wild Horses”, The 74 ft Joel White designed cruising ketch “Dragonera” and the 70 ft cruising/racing sloop “Sonny” designed by Dieter Empacher. Brooklin Boatyard is also widely known for it’s work in the repair and restoration of classic wooden boats.

Current new boat projects include a 48 ft cruising sloop scheduled for launching in this Spring and a 76 ft fast sloop to be completed in the Spring of 2005. Present restoration projects include: “Osceola”, a 1955 Trumpy power yacht in for topside work, repainting and systems work along with “Seminole”, a 1916 Lawley yawl in for extensive restoration work. The yard will soon begin a complete restoration of the 74 ft. Long Island Sound commuter yacht “Aphrodite” built in 1937 by the Purdy Boat Company.
