2 NEW BOATS SET FOR LAUNCHING IN SPRING 2012
Over the course of the winter of 2011-2012 designers and builders here at BROOKLIN BOAT YARD have been busy with 2 projects (1 power & 1 sail)
LARK, 47′ SPIRIT OF TRADITION SLOOP
The soon to be new owner of LARK went out for a sail on an earlier Bob Stephens / Brooklin Boat Yard collaboration LENA and liked it so much he wanted a boat just like it. However as these things go the original LENA design has been tweaked to add greater performance with a deeper, shorter cord length keel, a taller more powerfull sail plan and bit’s and pieces here and there.
Set for a June launching LARK will participate in the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and Downeast Race Weekend.
26′ JET DRIVE LAUNCH
Like the above mentioned LARK the other new construction project currently under way is an adaptation of an earlier Brooklin Boat Yard project. In this case the (still unamed) jet drive launch being built is based on another Bob Stephens / Brooklin Boat Yard collaboration PANDL. Also like the LARK project the new boat has been modified from the earlier model in that while PANDL had an open transom this new boat has a closed transom with access door. Also scheduled for a June launching this new boat will be seen mostly on Blue Hill Bay.
